I came into this incredible experience of being a Doula after the births of my own sons. Becoming a first time mum was exciting but extremely overwhelming at times. The internet, books and people in general can bombard you with so much “advice” that making decisions that are right for you and your baby can make you double guess yourself!
Doula’s believe in ‘mothering the mother’, they are there not only to give emotional and practical support to women, but to empower them to trust in their bodies during labour and birth along with the informed decisions they have made. I instantly knew that this was the role for me and immersed myself in everything Doula and birth related.
Since 2016 I have helped and encouraged so many mamas with all sorts of antenatal and postnatal support, including birth education, breastfeeding, relaxation/massage, breathing techniques and use of a birth ball. I have attended births of every kind including home birth, hospital transfer, caesarean birth, water birth and consultant led care. I am passionate about my work and never stop wanting to learn more, which is why I attend several workshops and training courses throughout each year to keep me up to date with all things maternity and birth!
My extensive training has taking me so much further than I ever thought I could go. I went from being a baby-signing teacher and library supervisor for 15 years, to now being a fully-fledged Doula, Antenatal Teacher and Aquanatal instructor.
I have the privilege of being a mentor to new doulas in my area and beyond. It brings me so much joy to see us making a huge difference to so many families.
I love every part of my work and couldn’t ever see myself doing anything else. It is so rewarding seeing the positive impact I can make in families lives.
I live in Rhoose with my husband and two boys. We love the outdoors and spend long hours walking our family dogs. In my spare time I love to read, shop and dance. You can find me most days at the farm with my horse Finn, spending time there gives me space to totally switch off.
It is in my nature to be warm, open and friendly but humour also plays a huge part in my life! I also enjoy writing blogs and poems, so if you want to see more of my personality and thoughts… feel free to browse.
I love to connect and chat to potential clients, so please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions about my services. I am available via phone and email, but for Doula support I prefer to later meet for coffee in person and make sure our personalities fit.
